Yeah I’m definitely planning on continuing Never Satisfied at some point. I really liked that series so I’m not going to drop it anytime soon. It might be a while before I start the second chapter, partly from the other blogs, partly for letting it increase in pages, but I will totally continue it.
But probably expect seeing me blogging the alt text for Never Satisfied Chapter 1 soon, because oops I forgot.
I love the colors that all pop out. I love the character designs, this coastal village vibe, the magic designs and creative uses for individual magic.
I love how things aren’t spelled out for us, but easily noticed and understood. Like each person has an animal familiar to use magic with. Each Familiar seems to represent the person’s personality. That is good world-building information, but the story wasn’t stalled to take the time to explain this to the reader. We just learn as we go on.
And man, this is good. No idea why their elimination round classes are important, but it looks like a pokemon contest where they need all 8 badges to be an eligible candidate for…something. I don’t know, admittance to special magician school? But their challenge of catching birds just showed us what kind of characters these guys are.
Red Chick has a spider, so she is crafty and just lets people do all the hard work to snag the kill.
Sylas is a 2-faced snake and I know for a fact that that is going to come into play later on. But he attacks head on.
I am terrified of the power that January and Tetsu has. Chaotic and controlled.
Cedric is a pure boy, Boar Witch is the chillest one of the group.
And Lucy, who I am 100% sure has NO magic. But she tries and fights for her spot like everyone else. There is a reason why she said “I deserve it more”. Especially to Phily.
Phily has a rich and noble family of magic lineage. She is sort of like the Sasuke of the group (hear me out). 1) Popular with her pears. 2) Teachers know/expect great things from her due to her heritage. 3) She has high expectations herself to live up to family standards.
Obviously she Isn’t Sasuke, since she still has emotions like Happiness and Positivity and Friendship. But the image of Everyone going to Phily after she cried about the dead bird because she is Best Girl, letting Lucy sulk in the corner, god I got Naruto flashbacks of him just sitting on the swing alone while everyone else is celebrating.
And I am not trying to say this is a Naruto Rip-off or that it is bad for the similarities I found between it and Naruto. I love Naruto. Naruto was the first Manga series I ever really got into. I own every volume. Naruto was someone I really related too and admired as a kid. So when I am comparing the two, it is out of love that I noticed similarities, because Naruto was such a big part of my life.
Which is also partly why I was sort of hoping that Lucy was an Orphan and not a ward to Pea Cock Man. Damn I hated him right when I found out about his existence, and I was RIGHT TO. His is AWFUL!!! AWFUL!!!! He’s the reason why Lucy has such insecurities about their abilities and need for validation conflicting with their fear of rejection! GAH!!!! I HATE HIS FACE!!!!!
Needless to say, I am now pretty obsessed with this comic.
On my Fibonacci Scale of 1 to 21: it gets a 21 easy. Love the colors, love the style, love the setting (still no idea about the flying cat woman), love the characters (except for Rottart and his non-existent Peacock), and it is such a good chapter to establish characters that make me want more.
And since there is only 8 chapters so far….I’m sure I can catch up pretty soon ;)
And this is why they feel so alone. And this is why they don’t want anyone’s pity. And this is why they feel like they have to prove themselves so much.
And this is why I want to murder this man, because he didn’t even give them the decency to turn around.
I don’t know what happened in their life for them to be isolated and closed off like this, but it hurts. It really hurts when I just want to jump through the comic and help them.
