( Troll name meanings!!!!! The readers were throwing out naming suggestions based solely on their intro page, so with little context, a bunch of these are based on their signs.  Karkat (Sanskrit for the cancer sign) Ventas (anti-cancer drug). Terezi (balance) Pyrope (Fire-eyed gem). Sollux Captor (Pollux and Castor are the twin stars in Gemini). Gamzee (named after a forum member) Makara (Sanskrit for capricorn).

So I didn’t miss the name meaning of one troll, but basically all of them. Damn, the Homestuck fans go hard when naming huh? Did Hussie come up with some Troll names on his own, or just let the fans guess and picked the best ones? But there is a lot of dedication to all of this.

What I want to know is why Gamzee was named after a fan. Like, were they super important in the forums/giving command suggestions, or was it a contest that they just happen to win?

( I just finished Homestuck two weeks ago. I have finished your liveblog over the course of three days and am now caught up. And I can say that, yes, as you predicted waaaay back when John put the bunny in his Strife Specibus the bunny did indeed whip out a gun )

I had to go back and look because I thought I made a “is that a rabbit in your box or you just happy to see me?” joke. This was all the way back in part 12 people (hspt12 for the tag). Time-wise: APRIL LAST YEAR. And yeah, I joked that the rabbit should either grow a machine gun, or it might become sentient. And It DID BOTH.

I also want to point out that because the reason the rabbit fought for John, and saw him as his owner, was because John had the rabbit’s weapon StrifeID thing in his own Specibus. So now John has a walking, talking Rambo bunny that I didn’t realized was meant to be until your ask.

Also, Jesus 3 days? I have 3000 post minimum on Homestuck. Y’all are dedicated people to catch up like that, wow.

See when I first saw what she actually looked like wayyyy back in November, I said she looked like and “emo disk jockey”. So, I shortened it up to DJ. (easier to write.

As of this moment, Nicknames are as followed:

  • Karkat -> Candy Corn (because of his horns)

  • Terezi -> DJ (because of “emo disk jockey”)

  • AT -> Torus (he does have bull horns, and I wasn’t calling him Bull)

  • GA -> Goth Model (she looked so fancy)

  • Gamzee -> Juggalo (he looks like one)

  • TA -> IT (He could be ‘Hacker’, but he gave me IT vibes more)

So I hope this clears things up. I might give everyone nicknames by the end of it

The Meteor hit Corcker’s factory, destroying it, and then the Colonel decided to take in Nanna. Harley’s meteor came, then Harley killed (accidentally) the Colonel, and then Crocker was left to raise both babies until Harley decided to GTFO at age 13 for a life of adventure. And he took the dog, too. )

( Betty Crocker WAS married to Colonel Sassacre, that’s why she raised Nanna and Grandpa after his death. She just didn’t die in any meteors (or baby shootings) )

Yeah, when I first got onto Tumblr was when Homestuck was ending, so a lot of memes/talk was around in those days. I was bound to hear something.

Honestly I am surprised that I haven’t heard more spoilers about homestuck during that time. The only things that I knew second hand about Karkat was that 1) he was a troll 2) he was a fan favorite 3) he was canon gay.

Yeah everyone exploded on that one, so I’m sorry if I disappointed you guys with knowing that. I am not sure if that was a major think to keep secret or if that was just a thing to appease the fans, but that was the only thing I knew about the guy.

Gay kitkat was canon.

( I love that all the pieces are told to us ahead of time… We knew dreamselves could die. We knew Jade’s robot copies everything her dreamself does. We knew it would blow up at some point. Surprise! )

Not a very happy surprise mind you. But I have to give respect to any writer that puts in hints and foreshadowing in their story for this big of a payoff. Especially with time travel. And the way Hussie manages to keep his head on straight and keep his timelines in order, that just boggles my mind.
