Second Slice End

God….dammit son. Like….Whole Fuck that was on some Madoka level shit right there. PTSD and Survivor’s Guilt included!

It was such a mood change too, when the Elevator Demon attacked. Like in Mulan’s Girl Worth Fighting For. Everything went fine, until it went wrong. Really wrong.

Not gonna lie, I really didn’t care too much about the girl’s in the beginning. Like, Gwen was cool but other than that I didn’t feel too connected to them. So I was just in it to like, watch how they struggle, see how the gang holds up or falls apart in this strange Magical Girl world.

But then they all just DIE! Like, give me another chapter at Least before you pull this!!

I can’t even be really mad, I mean I could, but the execution was done really well. It was early on so it caught most readers off guard, we saw part of their daily life in school and how they interact. Granted, they all go hard on their insults and bickering etc etc, but nothing to imply that this mission would be their last!

Like, we saw Gwen’s fucking crush!!! I was sudo expecting that Heart Punch girl would break her heart or something later on, give us a change to explore the romance he had. But nope! D E A D!

And, and I Saw the signs of Tessa’s conflict with her powers, how she is treated by her own team on her worth being only for her power. I was thinking she was gonna be last one standing, live with the regret and all that jazz. And…well, she lived with regret until she DIED! Died saving Undine!

Undine the Undying!

So…we now have our lead protagonist seeing how the others were widdled away. To be honest in the beginning, I was pretty much interested in that Purple Mystery Girl form the beginning. Because I’m pretty sure she is the antagonist, and I was totally down for rooting for the villain against the heroes here.

But then Undine had to survive a horrific event out of her control and must deal with the survivor’s guilt plus new powers from said incident, and that has my interest a lot more.

So yeah…first chapters can be deceiving.
