( I just spent every moment of my free time the last couple of days reading your whole Homestuck read through up to where you left off and it has been so much fun! Your commentary is just pure gold and I loved every moment of it and I seriously cant wait to see more!! Some of your reactions have been just hilarious and your theories and ideas really cool and interesting and fun to read! Sorry I’m just rambling now! Basically, this has been awesome! Thank you so much for doing this! )

This has me grinning like an idiot. I am so happy that people like the stupid shit I put out. But holy shit, I have like four thousand homestuck posts and you binged it in less than a week? That is amazing, I am so glad you like it that much!!!

( Favorite troll so far? )

So that Troll Ranking post I made like last session? Yeah I was serious on that one. And I will be updating my ranking as I keep meeting new Trolls.

But to answer your question, it would have to be Candy Corn. He might be an ass, but at least he seems to be coming around, actually helpful, and acts more like a gruff friend. Plus I can actually understand his conversations, the other trolls I have to decipher them one way or another.

( From the book: “Dave: Used a Punched GameBro magazine card” is the last reader command ever used in the story. I will always associate this ridiculous metal bro emerging from the platform with the cessation of all formal input from the readers…I was staring down the barrel of this smug, radical dude here, which was serving no purpose other than to utterly prevent Dave from performing alchemy, and I might have been like: okay, enough. The madness stops here.” )

( That game bro upgrade is where Hussie officially stopped taking reader commands, lol. “I will always associate this ridiculous metal bro emerging from the platform with the cessation of all formal input from the readers. I’m not exactly sure why this moment was the tipping point. The readership was already too huge to warrant ongoing command submissions before that. Maybe it was the critical mass of absurdity this particular convergence of ideas represented? I was staring down the barrel (½) )

( (2/2) of this smug, radical dude here, which was serving no purpose other than to utterly prevent Dave from performing alchemy, and I might have been like: okay, enough. The madness stops here.” )

You know what? I respect Hussie for allowing the readers to have some input into his story. And I respect Hussie for stopping the madness of reader input as well. Because if there was the straw that broke the camel’s back, it would be a statue of Rad Dude right there.

( Are you exaggerating for comedy or do you really hate the trolls that much? )

I don’t hate them exactly, but I can’t be sure if I like them just yet.

So when we first met the Trolls, it was when they were bullying Jade. Then the next time was with Dave being attacked (rather weakly, but still), and John implying that they have been dealing with this for a long ass time.

So yeah, in the beginning, I very much hated the Trolls.

But now, we get information that the trolls are trying to help out (for some reason), and now I feel like Candy Corn CG or whatever is legitimately trying to not be an asshole.

So I can respect the Trolls (or at least some of them) for trying to be decent people after fucking around for half an hour (yeah, can’t forget that in Troll Time, they were screwing around for 30 minutes before figuring out they have shit to do). But that doesn’t necessarially mean that I need to like them. I can enjoy their personalities and banter, but honestly as much as I do want to trust them, until they give me more proof I just can’t.

Yeah, I think I just used this question to clarify my feelings on the trolls.

TL;DR: I exagerate for comedy. While I don’t hate them now, I have no reason to like them.

If you are referring to when I said “fuck you” to the troll in person…I literally put my first reactions in these posts for everything and that just came out. So that was an honest-to-god natural reaction to Candy Corn there

( as someone who’s read homestuck several times, I absolutely love your blog holy shit.watching someone else read it and react to it is somehow the most satisfying and amusing thing to me. ( Can we REALLY know that Rose’s mother Doesn’t Know? We dont know much about her )

You know what? You’re right. We don’t know much about her, or at least I don’t since I’m sure most of you guys have already read this.

So let’s lay down the facts

  • She is super rich and neat in her house

  • dresses like the jetsons

  • an alcoholic person based on the size of her wine room

  • Rose has a passive-aggressive battle with her

  • She has a secret underground lab filled with evil green computers, cat mutants, time traveling monitors, and most importantly: SBURB logo

But this literally gives me nothing in terms of background. Is she a spy, a scientist? Was she originally hoping that Rose would be sucked in so that way she can be teleported too? Who Knows!

The only thing that I can be sure of at this moment is how I will view her given her justification for taking that boat. If she took it because she is scared for her daughter’s safety, or thinks Rose is dead, then I can sympathize.

However, if she took that boat without even bothering to check for Rose, or assume that Rose will be ok because she knows about the sky portal, then she is a horrible person and I hate Rose’s Mom

image

( Bear in mind that Rose has Gates above her house, just like John. The boat wasn’t her only way out. )

Now you know that, and I know that, and Rose knows that….but her mom doesn’t know that.

So either a) her mom acted under the assumption that her daughter is dead and tried to escape herself

b) her mom didn’t give a shit on whether Rose was there or not, and tried to escape

And if she does know about SBURB, then that leads to

c) she ditched Rose figuring that she would be fine on her own to escape (or dead, who knows) and still just left

Meaning right now, there is a 1/3 chance that her mom isn’t a complete dickbag

That’s fair. I’m not planning on even searching anything homestuck-like online until I finished with this series. But part of what I like about Homestuck is the music, and how it adds to the atmosphere of what the videos are. So a lot of the readers are missing out, if the books are their introduction. But Hussie’s dedication is wild for him to make paperbacks, along with the web comic, along with the videos and music for such, he had a lot on his plate so he went above and beyond there.

Though I might grab those books when I am done. I really want to see what went on in that strange head of his when writing this

The fact that Homestuck now has an official book blows my mind. Is it the regular comic but book form? How do the videos work, like is each frame printed out? And if the cover is a spoiler, is it to entice new readers, or a behind-the-scenes look for old ones?

Regardless, I’m glad I can entertain you with my commentary while you read Hussie’s commentary over the exact same scenes.
